מונח המשמש כאשר כל או חלק גדול של ענן עובר שינוי מכל סוג אחד למשנהו. ענן חדש נתון אז השם של הסוג המתאים, ואחריו השם של הסוג של אמא-ענן בתוספת הסיומת "mutatus" (למשל, סטרטוס stratocumulomutatus). השווה genitus.
